Five Things to Know Today
Be My Valentine, LMS Roof, Big Wrestling Rematch on Saturday

- Today is Valentine’s Day, a happy day for many, including florists, greeting card companies, restaurant owners and the like. For others, not so much.
- Let’s assume you are one of the happy ones today. Couples specials abound. At Foxwoods, for example, prefixed menus are featured today at Paragon, Cedars and Shrine – all very nice restaurants that will be sure to impress. There also is a $50 per couple Valentine’s Day special at the Groton Inn and Suites tonight. And don’t forget those overnight packages (“In Love,” “In Like” and “Get Lucky”) at Mohegan Sun. Enjoy!
- Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Graner said a decision with be made today about reopening the Ledyard Middle School gymnasium and cafeteria, which were closed after “loud noise” was reported Friday. A engineering firm is scheduled to inspect the facility Tuesday, but based on preliminary inspections that found no structure damage, students and staff could be readmitted as early as today.
- Congratulations to the Ledyard High School wrestling team, which lost a squeaker to Bacon Academy in the ECC Tournament Saturday, but still finished the regular season with a share of the ECC title. Next Saturday the schools will meet again for the rubber match.
