Foxwoods To Host 'Hand Me The Mic' Singing Competition Series

MASHANTUCKET, CT — Foxwoods Resort Casino has revealed plans to host "Hand Me The Mic," a singing competition open to the public. The grand prize winner will walk away with $10,000 and a chance to perform at the Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic.

The Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic along with singer, songwriter, lyricist and legendary vocalist Jeffrey Osborne is teaming up with Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods to discover the area’s next singing sensation this spring and summer, according to a release.

The talent search will kick off on March 17 at 1 p.m. at the Tanger Outlets music stage with a special appearance from the GRAMMY-nominated singer before his performance at the Fox Theater later that night.

Guests will enjoy singing performances by area youth from Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Foxwoods will then host competitions on April 21, May 19, June 16 and July 21 at Tanger Outlets, with three winners from each round, and a tenth finalist voted in via text, advancing to the finals.

The finalists will be given the chance to dazzle a packed crowd at Foxwoods live on July 29, a flagship event part of the weekend-long Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic. The winner of the “Hand Me The Mic” competition will also be awarded $10,000 in cash!

The Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic held later this summer at Foxwoods is the premier celebrity charity event in Southern New England and is the highlight of the summer season for many. The event draws notable attendees from the music, film, television and sports worlds and boasts three days of golf and spectacular happenings.

Each monthly competition will feature 20 competitors, 10 of which will be pre-selected via video submissions and an additional 10 chosen from walk-up auditions at Foxwoods. The top three finalists from each stage of the competition will receive prizes including gift cards to Foxwoods and the Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods.
