Fugitive From Justice Charged In Ledyard: Police

LEDYARD, CT — A woman wanted on drug charges in Massachusetts was arrested on a warrant in Ledyard early Tuesday morning, according to police. Sherri Wright, 48, of Brooklyn, CT was charged with second-degree failure to appear and fugitive from justice.

Police received a call from a Vinegar Hill Road homeowner who said that at 3:25 a.m., a woman came up and knocked on her door asking for directions to Ledyard.

Around 3:30 a.m., police arrived at Vinegar Hill Road near Ash Drive and found the woman walking. The woman told police she was lost and had just knocked on someone's door. She said she did not have any ID and provided the name Jennifer Gryzb.

Police ran the name through a National Crime Information Center database, which did not provide any information.

The woman was transported to the the lobby of the Ledyard Police Department where she was later identified as Wright. Wright had an active warrant out of Groton Town police for failure to appear in court and an extraditable warrant out of Dudley, MA for drug charges, according to police.

She was held on $100,000 and scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
