Gaels Ferry Library To Close Indefinitely
Ledyard officials have announced they will be closing the Gaels Ferry Library indefinitely.

LEDYARD, CT - Ledyard officials announced this week the Gaels Ferry Library will soon be closing indefinitely, the New London Day reported. The library is slated close at the end of the month, officials said.
The closure is an impact of the state budget crisis, which has forced the town to shift Gaels Ferry staff and programs to Bill Library, according to the New London Day. The closure is hoped to be temporary, however a date has not been set for the library to reopen. Both town libraries operate on a budget of approximately $605,794 for the current fiscal year, the New London Day reported. Mayor Fred Allyn III told the Day that he projects closing the library will save the town between $120,000 and $140,000 per year.
