Hazardous Weather Outlook for Ledyard: Fog, Snow, Intense Cold
If your house's pipes are prone to freezing, now is the time to prepare for that possibility!
The recent colder temperatures (not counting Sunday’s warmth) were just a preview of what’s to come this week. The following forecast is from the National Weather Service. A dense fog advisory was issued until 7 p.m. Sunday night.
- Sunday, Jan. 4: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of showers between midnight and 1 a.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Areas of fog before 1 a.m. Low around 34. Breezy, with a west wind 11 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Monday: Mostly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 30 by 5 p.m. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.
- Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 16. Wind chill values between 10 and 15. Northwest wind 7 to 15 mph.
- Tuesday: Snow likely, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 26. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. Northwest wind around 7 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
- Tuesday Night: A chance of snow before midnight. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 20. West wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
- Wednesday: A slight chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 29. Blustery. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
- Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 5. Blustery.
- Thursday: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 18. Blustery.
- Thursday Night: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 15. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
- Friday: A chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 29. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
