Hit-And-Run Driver Leaves Tire Behind in Ledyard
Police are looking for help from the public in locating the driver.

The good news is that the accident involved only one car and a stone wall — no other cars or persons were involved. Ledyard police are seeking assistance from the public in helping determine who was involved in the accident.
According to police, the accident prior to 3:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, on Shewville Road, just north of Route 214, aka Indiantown Road.
“During the accident it appears that a single vehicle left the roadway striking a stone wall in multiple spots,” Ledyard Police Department shared on Facebook. “It is believed the accident occurred during the night prior. As a result of this accident, the wheel of the vehicle was detached and remained at the scene. The tire is a Firestone Destination which appears to have been on a GMC brand suv. Based on evidence at the scene it is believed that the offending vehicle sustained heavy damage.”
