Here's what you need to know about Tuesday's 2019 Ledyard local elections including the candidates, polling places, voting hours and more.

LEDYARD, CT — As voters head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 5 to vote in Ledyard's municipal election, here's what you need to know.
The mayoral race is contested and several positions are up for grabs on the Town Council and Board of Education.
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters who are in line before 8 p.m. will be able to vote even after the deadline passes. You can find your poll location at the Secretary of the State website by inputting your information.

The candidates for mayor are: Fred B. Allyn III, a Republican, versus Petitioning candidate, Robert W. Lawrence.

The candidates for Town Council are: Democrats, Hilary Evans, Anthony Sabilia, Alex Rode, William D. Saums, Mary K. McGrattan, and Elizabeth Schwebel. Republican candidates are: Kevin Dombrowski, Steve Eichelberg, Andra Ingalls, Linda Davis, Tom Malone, and John Marshall. Voters will pick any five candidates.
The candidates for Board of Education are: Democrats, Janis Vajdos, S. Naomi Rodridguez, Kathryn DiPalma-Herb, Joanne Kelley, and Stephanie Calhoun. Republican candidates are: Anthony Favry, Mike Brawner, Robert Guerra, Steve Munger, Crystal Snyder, and Robert Russak. The petition candidate for school board is George P. Hosey. Residents will vote for any nine candidates.
Connecticut offers Election Day registration, but those who arrive need to be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote. Unlike previously registered voters standing in line before 8 p.m. to registrar won't guarantee the ability to vote.
Emergency application ballots are available for unforeseen circumstances within six days of the election.
