Ledyard Farmers Market Seeking New Leader

LEDYARD, CT — The Ledyard Farmers Market may not operate for the first time in 14 years unless organizers can find a new leader, the New London Day reported. Mark Fields announced Thursday he will resign from the position of market master after leading the market for the past two years.

Fields said he felt the market has underperformed over the last couple of years and could benefit from new leadership, according to the New London Day. He also expressed an urgency to find a new market master quickly out of fear the summer market might not occur this year without one.

The annual summer market typically runs from June to October at the Ledyard Fairgrounds, with multiple vendors typically taking part, the New London Day reported. Fields took over the market master position in 2016 after the previous master relocated.
