The Ledyard Historical Society presents “1860’s Baseball – Then And Now”, a talk by Mike Dreimiller and Jim Wyman at 2 p.m., Sunday April 19, 2015 in the Bill Library Meeting Room, 718 Colonel Ledyard Highway, Ledyard, CT. Free admission.

Ledyard resident Mike Dreimiller and Jim Wyman of Ashford play for the Thames River Nine, a vintage baseball club sponsored by the New London County Historical Society. They are members of the Society of American Baseball Research. They will discuss 1860’s baseball, when the game rapidly grew and spread across America, and also contemporary vintage baseball in which competitors re-enact the early game observing the rules and customs of 150 years ago.

They will present how the game was played in those days, sharing the things that are the same as today’s game, and what was different. Refreshments will be served.
