Ledyard Libraries Set New Hours Amid Budget Cuts
After previously considering closing one, both of Ledyard's two libraries have announced new hours of operation in an attempt to save money.

LEDYARD, CT - After previously considering closing one, both of Ledyard's two libraries have announced new hours of operation in an attempt to save money, according to the New London Day. These new hours will go into effect on December 3, library officials said.
Bill Library will now be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, the New London Day reported. Meanwhile, Gales Ferry Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday only.
The new schedule is estimated to result in savings of about $118,000, more than 20 percent of the libraries' budget, according to the New London Day. Library director Gale Bradbury said 10 part-time library assistants and three high school pages will also be laid off.
