Ledyard Man Charged With Cruelty To Animals, Police Say
The man was charged Thursday following an incident that led to the death of a cat, according to police.
LEDYARD, CT — A Ledyard man was charged after police said he drowned a cat in a bathtub.
Emergency dispatch received a call from Groton Town police Thursday at 6:54 p.m. Police said they were speaking to Travis N. Hyde on an unrelated call, and he told them about the incident with the cat.
An investigation began and police contacted a homeowner, who confirmed that the cat was dead in the bathroom. The homeowner believed Hyde had accidentally killed it.

Police took Hyde into custody. He was charged with cruelty to animals.
He was released on a $1,500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Sept. 10.
