Ledyard Man Pleads Guilty to Distributing Heroin Involved in Overdose Death

The suspect faces a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.

HARTFORD, CT - A Ledyard man charged with distributing heroin involved in an overdose death plead guilty Tuesday in Hartford.

The suspect Timothy Paprocki, 33, of Ledyard plead guilty to one count of distribution of heroin, according to a release. His charges stem from an ongoing statewide initiative targeting narcotics dealers who distribute heroin, fentanyl or opioids that cause death or serious injury to users.

Groton Town police responded to a medical emergency report on April 12 involving a 25-year-old man. The victim, who had used heroin, was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

An investigation followed, which included witness interviews and a review of phone call and text message records. It was found the victim had arranged to purchase heroin from Paprocki, who purchased the heroin from Rudy Hernandez and sold it to the victim.

The suspect was arrested on April 20.

Paprocki's sentencing has been scheduled for March 15, 2017. He faces a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.

The situation has been investigated by the DEA’s New Haven Tactical Diversion Squad and the Town of Groton Police Department. The Tactical Diversion Squad includes members from the New Haven, Hamden, Greenwich, Shelton, Bristol, Vernon, Wilton, Milford, Monroe, Fairfield and Manchester Police Departments, as well as the Connecticut State Police.
