Ledyard Police Conduct More Than 500 Vehicle Stops

Police say the stops largely took place in areas residents referenced as problem areas.

The Ledyard Police Department and its resident state trooper conducted 544 motor vehicle stops in the Ledyard since July 1 of this year, according to the Ledyard Police Department.

Police were largely able to increase enforcement due to a State of Connecticut Department of Transportation rural speed enforcement grant.

“During this enhanced enforcement, many of these stops occurred in locations directed by citizen complaints,” police said. “We will continue our efforts to make our roads safer through visible proactive traffic enforcement. Thank you to the Ledyard community for your assistance in this effort.”
