Ledyard Police Exceed Overtime Budget, Consider Hiring More Officers
The department currently has 20 officers, which is three below the cap set by town ordinance.

LEDYARD, CT - Due to overages in the overtime budget, Ledyard is considering hiring extra police officers, The Day reported.
The Finance Committee is examining the possibility of adding one or two full-time officers to the police force, according to The Day. The department currently has 20 officers, which is three below the cap set by town ordinance.
Police said the abnormally high overtime expenditures is mainly due to two-service related injuries that put some officers out of commission, The Day reported. An increase in service calls over the past year has also been a factor.
