Ledyard Police Taser Domestic Violence Suspect

Man wanted in connection with domestic violence incident on Highland Drive would not surrender

A Highland Drive man was Tasered and then arrested by Friday night following an alleged domestic violence incident, police said this morning.

Steven Deluca, 52, of 35 Highland Drive in Ledyard was charged with violation of a restraining order, assault 3rd degree, interfering with an officer, threatening, and criminal trespass.

According to Ledyard police Lt. Michael T. Finkelstein, the department received a call Friday at 10:16 p.m. about a domestic violence incident on Highland Drive. When officers arrived, the suspect had left the house.

Finkelstein said in a press release that the suspect was located in his car in the parking lot of the Highland Lake on Shewville Road, and was seen to be cutting himself.

"After the individual refused to comply with verbal commands, a Taser was deployed, allowing Officers to take him into custody. He was transported to the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries and released back to Police," the press release said.

Deluca is being held on $25,000 bond awaiting arraignment at GA 10 in New London.
