Ledyard Town Council Approves Grant to Improve Shewville Road Conditions

Police said there have been 66 accidents on the road in the past three years.

LEDYARD, CT – Town Council approved a grant Wednesday night that would improve conditions along the town’s stretch of Shewville Road, as reported by The Day.

There have been 66 accidents along the road in the past three years, 15 resulting in injuries and two that were fatal, according to The Day. The proposal for the Local Road Accident Reduction grant came from the police department’s accident reduction initiative.

The proposal would update guide rails and improve signage at Whitford Road and Route 214, according to The Day. Reflective markers would also be added along 18 segments of the road.
