Ledyard Town Officials to Make Decision on Gypsy Moths

BREAKING: The decision comes in light of recent concerns from residents concerning defoliating trees.

LEDYARD, CT – Town officials will decide whether to begin aerial spraying for gypsy moths in response to resident concerns for the safety of defoliated trees, The Day reported.

A discussion will be held Tuesday during a 6 p.m. Land Use, Planning and Public Works committee meeting, according to The Day. Residents also presented their concerns at Wednesday’s Town Council meeting, citing a third year in a row of defoliation could be costly.

If the town agrees to spraying, it will then need to agree upon a contract with a spraying company and collect fees from participating residents, according to The Day. Residents are still looking into finding the right spraying service for the property owners that want it.
