Man Charged With DUI In Ledyard: Police

A Rhode Island man has been charged with driving under the influence in Ledyard.

LEDYARD, CT — A Providence man is facing charges that he drove while intoxicated in Ledyard, according to police. Curtis McCants, 46, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating under suspension, open container/drinking while driving, and speeding.

He was released on $2000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on April 7.

Police were conducting speed enforcement on Route 2 in Ledyard early Thursday morning and pilled McCants over. He was stopped on Watson Road near the Hilton Garden Inn.

Police said when they made contact with McCants, he was found to have a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and an open container in the car. Police said they then found he was intoxicated and that his driving privileges had been suspended in Connecticut.
