Man Charged With Transporting 3 Juvenile Runaways: Ledyard Police

A man is facing charges that he was transporting three juvenile runaways to Foxwoods Casino, according to police.

LEDYARD, CT — A man was arrested Thursday on charges that he was transporting three juvenile female runaways, according to Ledyard police. Phillip Tanner, 27, of Torrington, was charged with three counts of risk of injury to a minor.

Police responded to a home on Church Hill Road at 12:53 a.m. to investigate juvenile runaways under the care of the Department of Children and Families. At about 3:30 a.m., police stopped a vehicle heading eastbound in Preston west of Route 164.

The juvenile female runaways were in the car, three of four of whom were under the age of sixteen. Tanner came from Torrington and picked up the girls to go to Foxwoods Casino to meet up with others, according to police.

Police said it was not the first time Tanner was accused of picking up the runaways.

He was held on $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court Thursday.
