Man Drives 48 Miles Over Speed Limit, Charged With OUI In Ledyard
Police said officers arrested a man on charges of operating under the influence after driving approximately 48 miles over the speed limit.

LEDYARD, CT - Police said officers arrested a man on charges of operating under the influence Monday. The suspect was stopped after driving approximately 48 miles over the speed limit, police said.
Police said Eric Murphy, 26, was observed driving on Route 12 at a high rate of speed. The suspect's vehicle was found to be going 93 mph in a clearly posted 45 mph zone, police said. (To sign up for Ledyard breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Murphy was subsequently stopped and found to be operating under the influence, police said. The suspect was charged with reckless driving and operating under the influence.
Murphy was released on a $500 non-surety bond and given a court date of June 13.
