Man Tries To Swap Seats With Passenger, Hits Cruiser: Ledyard PD
Police said a New London man is accused of hitting a police cruiser while trying to switch seats with a passenger after being pulled over.

LEDYARD, CT — Police said a New London man is accused of hitting a police cruiser while trying to switch seats with a passenger after being pulled over. The incident occurred Saturday at approximately 8:03 p.m.
Police said they received a report that night of a person suspected to be intoxicated driving erratically on Route 117. Officers quickly located the vehicle and attempted to stop the driver.
Police said the driver pulled off the road onto a curb. The car then rolled backwards, striking one of the police cruisers. Police said they learned the suspect was attempting to switch positions with a passenger, and in haste did not put the car in park.

Police said there were no injuries as a result of the incident. Hanlett N. Garcia Pena of New London was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to drive right and improper backing, according to police.
