Mayoral Debate Tonight at 7 p.m.

Debate at high school should showcase the diversity of candidates.

If you are among the many voters who believe politicians are all the same, check out tonight's political debate at Ledyard High School, which will feature four very distinct choices for mayor of Ledyard.

The debate begins at 7 p.m. and is sponsored by the Norwich Bulletin. Ray Hackett, the Bulletin's editorial page editor, will moderate.

Fred B. Allyn Jr., the incumbent, won the office as a Republican in 2007. He is seeking a second term as a petitioning candidate after Republicans passed on Allyn in favor of endorsed candidate John Rodolico, a former Town Council chairman who challenged state Rep. Tom Reynolds last year for the House seat from the 42nd District.

The Democrats nominated Gales Ferry Fire Chief Anthony Saccone, a political newcomer. Rob Lawernce, who has had only limited limited involvement in Ledyard politics, also is running as a petitioning candidate.
