New London Man Arrested by Ledyard Police After Naval Sub Base Crash

LEDYARD, CT- Police arrested a New London man after he sped through town and crashed into the Naval Submarine Base gate early Thursday, as reported by The Day.

New London resident Orlando Mateo, 32, was observed by police driving his car erratically close to 12:30 a.m. and attempted to follow him as he sped away, according to The Day. He then crashed into the base’s north gate, damaging it.

Mateo was arrested on a number of charges, including driving under the influence and driving without insurance and a suspended license, The Day reported. He is due to appear in court Thursday.
