Police Arrest 2 Over Weekend in Ledyard

Police said officers made two arrests over the weekend on various charges in separate incidents.

LEDYARD, CT - Police said officers made two arrests over the weekend of April 29 in Ledyard. In this time, one suspect was charged with driving under the influence while another suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct, police said.

Police said Mitchell W. Krohn, 53, of Sterling was stopped Sunday after officers received reports of the suspect driving erratically and throwing his own keys into the woods. The vehicle was stopped on Rose Marie Court, according to a release. (To sign up for Ledyard breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Police said Krohn was lethargic and sluggish behind the wheel of the car, and the suspect subsequently admitted to ingesting Xanax prior to driving. He was found to be in possession of numerous Xanax pills in a clear sandwich baggie, police said.

Krohn was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, possession of narcotics and possession of a prescription narcotic not in the proper container, police said. He was released on a $500 non surety bond and scheduled for court on May 9.

Over the same weekend, police said they also arrested David Smith, 39, of Dorchester, Massachusetts, in a separate incident. The suspect was arrested Sunday at the Two Trees Inn, police said.

Police said the suspect was involved in a physical altercation with his significant other while visiting the resort in town. He was charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing or interfering with an emergency call.

Police said Smith was held on a $1500 cash bond and scheduled for court on May 1.
