
On June 3, at 1:30 a.m., Ledyard police observed Phillip B. Gomes, 22, of 20 Eagle Ridge Drive, Gales Ferry, traveling northbound on Route 12 without a front registration plate on his vehicle. He was stopped and subsequently failed a field sobriety test. Gomes was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and failure to have a front registration plate. His bond was set at $500 and he was given a June 3 court date.
On June 4, at 2:09 a.m., Joshua R. Whyte, 35, of 98 Georgia Street, Groton, was observed crossing the double yellow line while traveling southbound on Route 12. After failing a field sobriety test he was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and failure to drive right. His bond was set at $500 and he was given a June 14 court date.
