Police Find Mushrooms, Marijuana During Ledyard Search and Seizure

LEDYARD, CT - A man is charged with possessing marijuana, mushrooms and more following a police search of a Ledyard residence Friday.

The Ledyard Police Department, assisted by the Regional Community Enhancement Task Force, executed a narcotics related search and seizure warrant at a Lake Street residence. The department obtained the warrant following a month-long investigation into the sale of marijuana from the residence.

Detectives seized the following evidence:

• 2.5 pounds of marijuana
• 74 grams of psilocybin mushrooms
• $5,042

Police arrested James E. Bredeweg, 60, of Ledyard. He is charged with possession of greater than 4 ounces of marijuana, marijuana with intent to sell, hallucinogenic substances with intent to sell and drug paraphernalia.

The Regional Community Enhancement Task Force is comprised of detectives and officers from southeastern Connecticut, formed to combat the heroin epidemic in the area and to improve the quality of life for citizens
