Project Runway, 30 Rock, The Mentalist

This has been perhaps the best season of Runway since the first, in that the designers are all real "characters," the challenges have been clever and intriguing, and the extra 30 minutes of show have given us super-duper doses of Tim Gunn. And what a Tim Gunn it has been this season: Angry Tim, Chagrined Tim, Tearful Tim. Good heavens. Mondo is, of course, my favorite, and that happened well before the "I've got a secret" episode that involved the world's most amazing pink satin pants.

30 Rock, 8:30 p.m., NBC

It's the "live" show, which means it really is live. It's an idea that's been kicking around in Tina Fey's head since the writers' strike, when the cast of 30 Rock actually did a live show just for the hell of it. And there's a lot of "live" going on here. According to the synopsis on Zap2It.com: "Liz becomes angry when no one seems to remember her 40th birthday on show night; Tracy decides to break character all night; Jack struggles with the consequences of his promises to not drink during Avery's pregnancy." All in 22 minutes!

The Mentalist, 10 p.m., CBS

You know I love Simon Baker. Who doesn't? That curly blonde mane. Those crinkly blue eyes. But this show and its premise are wearing thin on me. Let's wrap up Red John, shall we?
