1. Why are you running for this office?
I am seeking re-election because I really enjoy being part of the decision making process. Becoming a gear in the municipal machine is very satisfying, however slow it may turn. Being the only blue collar on the council gives me a different perspective on the issues that come across our desk. I try to be very approachable and understanding, which is something our residents need when they come to us. I have been either a union carpenter Foreman or steward for the past 6 years, and I have delt with budgets, deadlines, and conflicts within the ranks. I'd say that qualifies me as an excellent candidate.
If you watch the council meetings on TV, or attend in person, we are given a chance to speak on whatever we wish under "councilor comments." Mine are never political. I'm not a politician. I'm a father, husband, and a resident doing what he can to make Ledyard better for us today, and for our children tomorrow.
2. What do you believe is the greatest challenge Ledyard faces today, and what would you do to face this challenge?

I have many concerns when it comes to Ledyard. It would be difficult to rank them. The first would be facing more cuts to our board of education budget. Our children's future is not something to nickle-and-dime. Another issue would be attracting small businesses and retaining them. These people are the backbone of any local economy, and need the town's support. The last issue I'm going to speak to is the inability of the current administration to solve everyday issues by finding common ground. Compromise, people. If it works in my world, it will work in yours.
How would you rate the performance of the current council overall, and what, if anything, would you do differently?
I would rate the current council's performance as outstanding. I sit to the right of eight of the finest human beings I have ever met. Each one brings something different to the council, as it should be. We have successful, independent business owners, teachers, politicians, accountants, ex-military, a lawyer, and a carpenter. I wouldn't change a thing. It would be nice if we didn't have to wear so many hats, but maybe that will change with the next administration.
