Red Cross Helping 7 Families After Fires In Ledyard, New London
The American Red Cross is helping seven families after fires in New London, Ledyard and other Connecticut towns.

NEW HAVEN, CT – The American Red Cross is helping seven families after four separate fires over the weekend. The incidents occurred in New Haven, Ledyard, New London and Derby, according to a release.
The Red Cross is helping:
- Four families – ten adults – seven children after a fire today on West Street, New Haven
- One family – three adults after a fire yesterday on Iron Street, Ledyard
- One family – one adult after a fire yesterday on Spring Street, New London
- One family – two adults – two children after a fire yesterday on Anson Street, Derby
The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a resident might not have been able to gather in a rush to escape a fire.

A recovery envelope containing information helpful to families recovering from a fire, including tips on cleanup, notification of important contacts, dealing with damaged items and more, was also provided.
Red Cross caseworkers will meet with those affected in the coming days to work on a longer-term recovery plan.
