Reps. France and Scott Go on Patrol with Ledyard Police

LEDYARD – Before the Ledyard Police Department officially relocates to their new headquarters next to the Town Hall, State Reps. Mike France (R-42) and John Scott (R-40) took a tour of the department’s current facilities this week, and participated in a ride-along to learn more about the needs and concerns of our community protectors and emergency responders.

The legislators asked for the in-depth and personal look at how local police departments operate so they could gain a better understanding of the myriad pressures facing police on a daily basis. Recent news events involving police across the country have put an intense spotlight on their role in the community and by listening and talking to police directly Reps. France and Scott will be able to work more effectively on
their behalf from a legislative standpoint.

“Thank you to the Ledyard Police Department for their hospitality and professionalism,” said Rep. France.
“I learned a great deal and really enjoyed my ride along with Officer Foster, a Ledyard High School graduate who happened to be a classmate of my daughter’s. Our police officers are constantly working to protect
our community and keep our residents safe. They have my utmost respect for their constant vigilance and dedication.”

“In the short time I rode with Officer McSwain I was able to see and experience how the brave men and women of our police departments approach different situations with professionalism, knowledge and empathy,” Rep. Scott said. “I’m proud of the men and women who keep our community safe and I will continue to support their efforts both locally and at the Capitol in Hartford.”
