Reward Offered in 2006 Slaying

Member of Eastern Pequot Tribe Was Found Dead Off Shewville Road

It has now been nearly five years since the body of Anthony Hamlin was found beaten to death in a field off Shewville Road in Ledyard, and Connecticut State Police are offering a $25,000 reward for information that leads to the conviction of his killer or killers.

Hamlin's body was discovered on Jan. 28, 2006, by a passing motorist, who made a 911 call to police. His death was ruled a homicide caused by blunt trauma to the head, according to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A member of the Eastern Pequot Tribe, Hamlin was 40 at the time of his death. He last lived at 34 Atlantic Court in Groton.

Police believe Hamlin was in the vicinity of State Street and Bank Street in New London the night before his death. According to the Associated Press, the father of five had recently landed a new job in Virginia and was preparing to leave the area the next day.
