Route 12 Crash Sends Eight to Hospital
Utility Pole Damaged in Two-Car Crash Late Monday

A two-vehicle crash involving a utility pole on Route 12 sent eight people to the hospital Monday night. The crash occurred at around 11:30 p.m. on Route 12 at Long Cove Road.
Ledyard Police said a car driven by Alvin D. Williams, 45, of New London, was struck by a vehicle driven by Ariadana Roman, 39, of Gales Ferry, who was entering Route 12 from Long Cove Road.
A total of eight people were transported to both the Lawrence & Memorial and William Backus hospitals for the treatment of injuries, none of which were life threatening. The accident remains under investigation.

The utility pole was badly damaged. Repair of the pole is expected to take most of the day and night to complete. As a result, traffic may be affected at certain times.
The Gales Ferry Fire Company, Submarine Base Fire Department, Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad, American Ambulance, Poquetanuck Fire Department Ambulance, and Mohegan Tribal Paramedic, along with Officers from the Ledyard Police Department responded.
