State Police Investigating Shooting In Ledyard: UPDATE

LEDYARD, CT - State police are currently investigating a suspected shooting that occurred Tuesday night in Ledyard, according to media reports. Police said the incident occurred in the road near the intersection of Shewville Road and Coachman Pike.

Police said shots were fired at a car Tuesday evening, striking the 29-year old driver in his abdomen, the Hartford Courant reported. He was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition, police said Wednesday. Police said neither the driver or the female passenger in the car knew the shooter, according to the Hartford Courant. Police said officers seized physical evidence and are working several leads.

Town detectives and the Ledyard Accident Reconstruction Team worked Tuesday to map the scene, as reported by the New London Day. State police and Mashantucket Pequot Tribal police are assisting in the investigation.
