State Reps. France and Scott to Host Flag Collection

Got a worn American flag in need of retirement?

HARTFORD – In honor of Flag Day, State Reps. Mike France (R-42) and John Scott (R-40) will be hosting a flag collection in cooperation with American Legion Post 205 for constituents to retire their worn American Flags.

WHEN: May 22 – June 12, 2015

WHERE: Ledyard Town Hall and Groton Town Hall

The Ledyard Town Hall is located at 741 Colonel Ledyard Highway in Ledyard. The Groton Town Hall is located at 45 Fort Hill Road in Groton.

The U.S. Flag Code specifies that old American flags no longer in service must be properly disposed of. The legislators encourage all district constituents to come by and drop off flags to be retired in an honorable manner between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

A Flag Retirement Ceremony will be held on Flag Day, June 14, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. at American Legion Post 128, 16 York Avenue, Niantic, CT.

Rep. France represents the 42nd district of Ledyard, Preston and Montville.
