Ledyard Center Project Taking Shape

Rob Montie of B&W Paving and Landscape in Mystic said Tuesday the wall portion of the Ledyard Center improvement project should be complete by the end of this week. Work on the paved terrace, the fence that will top the wall and installation of stone benches is expected to continue as we head into winter. But Montie said the unsightly chain-link fence will soon be gone, and when that happens the transformation will really begin to take shape.

Engraved in the granite steps that lead to the green are the fateful words spoken by Col. William Ledyard at the Battle of Groton Heights: "We Shall Not Surrender; Let The Consequences Be What They May." It's a nice looking project and a credit to the town and vision of the Ledyard Center Committee.
