Traffic Advisory Issued For Colonel Classic 5K Race This Weekend In Ledyard

LEDYARD, CT - Ledyard police have issued a traffic advisory in preparation for the Colonel Classic 5K Road Race this weekend. The race will take place Saturday, May 13, at 9:30 a.m.

This event will cause a temporary closure of Colonel Ledyard Highway between Lambtown Road and Gallup Hill Road, according to a release. The closure is expected to last for approximately 45 minutes, police said. (To sign up for Ledyard breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Motorists should expect minor delays in the area and are encouraged to plan accordingly. Motorists and residents on Colonel Ledyard Highway, Applewood Drive, Lucienne Way, Whipple Road and Maple Terrace should expect minor delays in the area and are asked to use caution for the safety of participants in the event.

Ledyard Police will be on scene conducting traffic management activities for the safety of all. Southbound traffic from Ledyard Center on Colonel Ledyard Highway will be detoured onto Gallup Hill Road and northbound traffic from Groton will be detoured onto Lambtown Road.
