Volunteers Needed to Help End Hunger in NE

Ledyard churches and community members are teaming up to combat hunger on Sept. 19. Donations and volunteers needed to pack 28,000 meals

Saturday, September 19, 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., St. Luke Lutheran Church in Gales Ferry will host an Outreach, Inc. “End Hunger” event. St. David’s Episcopal Church and Gales Ferry United Methodist Church are also providing financial support as well as manpower for this ecumenical service opportunity. The community is invited to assist in the effort to package 28,000 meals for local and regional food pantries and schools. Food insecure families will have access to these meals at no charge.

25 cents can pay for a meal for one child. Just $1.00 feeds a family of four. Please consider joining this effort by donating financially and/or volunteering on a packing team. This is an exciting opportunity to serve the community as a family or with friends.

For questions, or to sign up for a one-hour packing time slot, email Louise@stluke.info. Donations may be made by mail or in person to St. Luke (office hours 9 a.m. -1 p.m., M-F). Please be sure to specify “End Hunger campaign” with your donation. St Luke Lutheran Church is located at 1830 Rt. 12 Gales Ferry, CT 06335. (860-464-7897)
