Woman Bit Officer During DUI Arrest: Ledyard Police

A woman is facing charges that she bit an officer during an arrest.

LEDYARD, CT —A woman bit a police officer while resisting arrest Sunday evening, according to police. Police received a call at 6:37 p.m. regarding a disabled motorist on Colonel Ledyard Highway at the intersection with Center Groton Road.

When police arrived, Anne Cyriack, 34, of New London, was in the driver's seat speaking with her son. Police suspected that Cyriack was operating under the influence.

Police ordered her out of the vehicle and she refused. Police asked her a second time, and she refused again. Police then tried to remove her from the vehicle.

During the ensuing struggle, Cyriack bit an officer, breaking the skin and drawing blood, according to police.

She was taken into custody and later failed a field sobriety test.

She was charged with DUI, interfering with police, third-degree assault, risk of injury, and failure to submit to prints.

Cyriack was held on $20,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Monday.
