Woman Charged With Stealing, Crashing Boyfriend's Car: Ledyard PD

LEDYARD, CT — Ledyard police said a woman was charged Monday morning with stealing her boyfriend's car, then crashing it. She was subsequently charged with driving under the influence, police said.

Police said the incident occurred after officers noticed a man did not appear to be dressed for the weather walking on Route 214 in the area of Avery Hill Road, according to a release.

Officers later determined the man had been involved in a physical altercation with his girlfriend, 41-year-old Kelly Conti of Warwaick, R.I., who stole her boyfriend's car and left him on the side of the road, police said.

After further investigation, officers located the suspect at a Ledyard residence after she was involved in a minor one car accident with the stolen vehicle, police said.

After a brief investigation, the suspect was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, breach of peace and larceny, police said.
