The Board of Selectmen, at their most recent meeting, thanked Ott for his many years of service to the town.
The selectmen also voted to appoint John Iennaco as the interim town engineer while a search committee is formed to seek Ott’s permanent replacement.

At the same meeting, two-time Board of Selectman Bob Hale announced he would be stepping down.
Hale said he would not be seeking a third term in November, stating he and his wife would be doing some travelling and that the busy schedule a selectman keeps would not allow him to continue to serve in that capacity.
Hale is well-known, and liked. He did say he expected “to continue to serve” in a volunteer capacity of some form in Madison – just not as a selectman.
