Woman and Retirement

Q #8:  “So how can women better prepare for retirement?”

The same retirement survey found that 58 percent of women want more educational materials about saving and investing for retirement. That’s one reason I produced this report. And 51 percent of women do seek advice about retirement but want to then make their own decisions. Only 35 percent reported using a professional advisor.

Still, the tools and steps for preparing for retirement are the same for women and men (see the answer to “I haven’t done a thing about retirement yet. Where do I start?”)

If you’re a woman think about 2-3 other women you know well and you believe are excellent with money. Ask each one if you can tap their expertise on money and retirement planning. Prepare a series of questions you’d like answered. Take each to lunch and ask the questions. Listen carefully and take notes.
