Overcoming Retirement Saving Doubts

Q #4: “I don’t think I can possible save enough for retirement. How can I find ways save more?”

Think of saving for retirement as saving to help yourself. That will help motivate you. When you save for retirement you’re not denying yourself. You’re preparing yourself for a richer last third of your life. Only you can best assure that you have enough funds to enjoy retirement. If you cannot save enough for retirement you need to change something.

Can you tighten your budget? Most people can easily find a way to shave at least $100 off what they spend each month.  Cut out your cable bill. Eat out less. Drop one club membership.

Once you’re certain you can’t cut any more expenses consider how you can bring in more income. Are there services you now provide for free that you should be charging for? Do you have valuable items you no longer want that you can sell? Can you take on a second job?

Be creative when you look for part-time jobs. If you get a job at your gym, you can get your membership for free which frees up that money for retirement, while also adding extra money to put towards retirement.
