MADISON, CT — Madison's Board of Selectmen is scheduled to consider shifting $350,000 in planned capital funding to accelerate the purchase of a new ambulance when it meets Tuesday afternoon.
The board will hold its regular meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, remotely via Zoom. The meeting is virtual only.
One of the most significant business items is a request from the Madison Ambulance Association to move $350,000 from the town’s fiscal year 2027-28 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget into fiscal year 2026-27 for the purchase of an ambulance. The board is scheduled to discuss and potentially take action on the request, which is contingent on approval by the Board of Finance.
The Board of Selectmen is also expected to review proposed edits to an Affordable Housing Trust Fund Ordinance. In a related item, members are scheduled to discuss and take action on calling a public hearing for June 22 at 6 p.m. in Town Campus Room A and on Zoom to review the proposed ordinance. The ordinance is part of the town’s ongoing efforts to address housing-related policy issues.
Infrastructure projects also appear on the agenda. Officials will receive an update on the Green Hill/Mungertown Road Pedestrian and Roadway Improvement Project, which is intended to improve transportation and pedestrian conditions in that area.
The board is additionally scheduled to consider awarding a $31,313.75 contract to Safety Marking LLC for pavement markings and line striping on the Town Campus. The proposal, recommended by the Public Works Department, would authorize First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons to sign related documents if approved. The work would be funded through the Public Works Construction Services account, and the company is listed on a state contract.
Looking beyond current projects, selectmen are expected to receive an update on other town planning initiatives and a potential process for setting future capital improvement priorities.
The agenda also includes updates from the First Selectwoman, liaison reports and selectmen’s comments. Under the consent agenda, the board may approve minutes from its May 26 meeting and consider appointing Christie Hodge to the Senior Citizen Commission for a term ending Jan. 1, 2030.
As mentioned above, the meeting will be conducted via Zoom webinar. The webinar ID is 827 4594 1390 and the access code is 091328.
