MADISON, CT — The Madison New Elementary School Building Committee approved nearly $9,700 in project invoices Monday and received an update on the remaining closeout work for Neck River Elementary School.
The committee met virtually on July 20 for an eight-minute meeting focused on project closeout. Students were admitted at the school at the beginning of the 2025-26 school year.
Committee members unanimously approved the June 29 meeting minutes following a motion by Woodie Weiss and a second by Bob Blundon.
During the project update, Adam Levitus, the owner's representative project manager with Colliers, said items identified during the project's 11-month walkthrough remain on the outstanding work list and that the project team is coordinating to complete them.
Levitus said most of the available Eversource incentive funding has been received through the utility's Path One program. He said the town expects to receive a final closeout payment of about $100,000 after the town and Eversource resolve the dates for the one-year measurement and verification period.
Levitus also reported that tax consultant CLA submitted a $2.1 million tax rebate application that has been received and accepted by the Internal Revenue Service.
He said the project team is continuing to work with the town's finance department on financial closeout matters and will submit the final state change order to Connecticut.
The committee also unanimously approved a July 20 invoice packet totaling $9,673.12. The payment includes $6,090 for invoices from CLA and Colliers and Gilbane Construction Pay Requisition No. 28 for $3,583.12. Sharon Shoemaker made the motion, and Weiss seconded it.
No public comments were offered at the beginning or end of the meeting, and committee members made no additional remarks.
