MADISON, CT — With heavy rains expected to be on the way, a Flood Watch has been issued in Madison, and it will remain in effect until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, according to officials.
"This storm is expected to have heavy rainfall (rates of 1"-2"per hour)," officials wrote in a news release. "The most vulnerable locations are expected to be in urban areas and along streams and moderate sized rivers."
Forecasts call for 3 inches to 6 inches of rain to begin in Southeastern New York or Western Connecticut, and work its way east.
The storm could significantly increase rainfall amounts to 5 inches to 10 inches.
"However, It's not possible to determine the exact location of the heaviest bands until they develop tonight (07/28) and into the day tomorrow (07/29)," officials said.

Residents should remember the following in the event of possible flooding in roadways and neighborhoods:
- Always treat downed wires as if they are live and dangerous– do not approach or touch them.
- Charge essential electronics, and in the event of power outages, be sure to run generators outdoors and away from windows and doors.
- Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.
