Details of the alleged 2021 incident were not disclosed, but the department said the arrest "was made possible through the continued efforts of the Madison Police Department Criminal Investigations Division."

"The Madison Police Department takes all cases seriously, regardless of how much time has passed," officials wrote in a statement. "Our investigators remain committed to following every available lead and will continue working a case until an arrest is made, or all investigative avenues have been exhausted."

Salmon is being held in lieu of bail of $1,000, and he is scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on Sept. 25.

"All persons arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law," officials said.
