Country School Begins Its 71st Year

Country School has opened the 2026-2027 school year with new students in every grade. The growth reflects steady interest in the school's PreSchool through Grade 8 program and its approach to teaching and community. Expanding class sizes led Country School to add another Kindergarten section, and trusted teachers are stepping into new roles. Growth on campus is visible in our new Wellness Center and our STEAM Center, the first new building on campus in 30 years.

"Families are choosing Country School because they see the difference here. Our students are academically motivated and well-rounded. New families hail from nine towns across the shoreline, from East Haven to Old Saybrook, with the largest numbers from Madison and Guilford, and new students are also arriving from as far as California and the United Kingdom. Currently, the school arranges transportation for residents of Branford, Madison, and points east.

Country School prioritizes accessibility. Half of this year's new families are receiving financial aid, with an average grant covering close to 50 percent of tuition. A Country School education is built to be within reach, and the school backs that with both need-based financial aid and merit scholarships. "Country School has a generous financial aid budget. Our team is committed to helping families afford a Country School education. Many families are surprised to learn the financial aid application takes less than 30 minutes to complete online," said Pam Glasser, Director of Admission.

The Country School is an independent, coeducational PreSchool to 8th Grade day school, nestled on 23 wooded acres in Madison.
