Fatal Crash In Madison Under Investigation: Police

Madison police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that closed a portion of Route 80 on Sunday.

MADISON, CT — A person was killed Sunday morning in a fatal single-vehicle crash on Route 80 in Madison, according to police.

The crash occurred at about 7:15 a.m. east of Squires Road, and the identity of the person who died is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Madison police temporarily closed Route 80, also known as Old Toll Road, Sunday morning between Twin Bridge Road and Route 79.

The Madison department and the South-Central Connecticut Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, police said.

Additional details were not disclosed.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use an alternate route while the investigation continues.
