Announcing the Archimedes Scholarship for Students Entering Grades 5-8

The Country School is pleased to announce the Archimedes Scholarship, available for new students who enroll in Grades 5-8 during the summer of 2013. This is the second year The Country School has invited families to apply for the Archimedes Scholarship, a special tuition assistance program created to allow more students to experience The Country School's vibrant Middle School program.

Characterized by hands-on learning and discovery, The Country School's Middle School program features rigorous academics balanced by a focus on the whole child. Hallmarks of the TCS Middle School experience include STEAM, an integrated program of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math that inspires the development of 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking; Outdoor Education; global language and global awareness; interscholastic athletics; service learning; and more.  Learn more about the school's Middle School program in our new video (click here).

The Archimedes Scholarship is named for Archimedes, the Greek mathematician, physicist, astronomer, engineer, and inventor, who serves at The Country School mascot. Interested applicants are asked to contact Director of Admission Claire Kinkade Dunn (call 203-421-3113, extension 122 or email admission@thecountryschool.org). In addition to the Archimedes Scholarship, The Country School provides need-based financial assistance to students who otherwise could not afford to attend.

Founded in 1955, The Country School is a coeducational, independent day school serving students in PreSchool through Grade 8. Students come from an array of towns across the shoreline and, upon graduation, typically attend a range of high schools - public, parochial, and independent. Graduates of the Class of 2013 will be attending Choate Rosemary Hall, Daniel Hand, Guilford High School, Haddam Killingworth, Hopkins, Hotchkiss, Milton Academy, St. Paul's, Westover, Williams, and more.
