The Bravest At Work: A Day In The Life Of Madison Hose Company No. 1
Their day began at 4 a.m. and for the entirety of Thursday, Madison firefighters went from one call to another via boat, truck, and tanker.

MADISON, CT — One day in the life of Madison Hose Co. No. 1. Thursday was a dark and stormy day. For Madison firefighters, that day began at 4 a.m. when they were called to respond to a tree, and power line wires, down.
A few hours later, the fire company's Marine 1 vessel was called to check on a sailboat possibly in distress.
Minutes later, two house fires were reported; one in the North Madison area of town and in Killingworth. The Madison Hose Ladder and Tanker responded to both fires and operated for several hours.

North Madison Volunteer Fire Company Chief Mike Penders noted that volunteers from the Opening Hill Road fire house responded to the North Madison fire, and the one in Killingworth.
He told Patch that the volunteer department is the "primary response" in the area of North Madison and "utilizes mutual aid with downtown Madison and other departments as needed."

Meanwhile, Madison Hose Co. No. 1 would later, while cleaning equipment back at the firehouse, were dispatched to a fire alarm.
Throughout the very busy day, "18 volunteers were operating or standing by at the firehouse during these incidents."
